Some lesser-known facts on Rafale deal which everyone must know:
1. During UPA rule, Sanjay Bhandari - a well known arms dealer and the biggest middleman involved in all defense procurement made in the UPA rule - wanted to strike a deal with Dassault for the Rafale jets.

2. When French company Dassault realised that Sanjay Bhandari was trying to use his influence via Robert Vadra to secure the deal, Dassault objected to it and threatened to back off.
.
3. It was then that UPA government put the deal on hold, as Dassault did not agree to tie up with Sanjay Bhandari, who is the closest associate of Robert Vadra. The whole aim was to make a huge commission for Vadra and Bhandari.

4. In October 2009, Sanjay Bhandari purchased a mansion in London (12 Ellerton House, Branton Square) for Robert Vadra at a staggering cost of Rs 19 crore.

5. When Hindustan Aeronautical Limited (HAL) was developing Basic Trainer Aircraft (BTA) and India was set to procure 180 of them, UPA cancelled the contract with HAL and awarded it to Pilatus Aircraft (Switzerland).

6. The sabotage to HAL and deal to Pilatus was "arranged" by middleman Sanjay Bhandari, who deposited CHF 1 Million (Rs 7.5 crore) in the account of Robert Vadra, who went to Switzerland with this cash.

7.The tickets for Robert Vadra were booked by Bhandari's travel company Bhandari Travel Agent International Travel on 7 August 2012 and 17 August 2012. Vadra flew to Zurich with 1 Million Swiss Francs.

7. Who is Sanjay Bhandari ?
Let's know a bit about him.....
➤ Sanjay Bhandari is the biggest arms dealer and commission agent involved in all arms deal that happened under UPA regime.

➤ He is the closest associate and business partner of Robert Vadra, who used his influence to infiltrate the defense ministry in UPA regime.

➤ He started a defense consulting company "Offset India Solutions" in 2008 with investment of as little as Rs 1 lakh after Sonia Gandhi came to power in 2004.

➤ By 2013, Bhandari's company OIS was acting as the middleman in all government defense deals and his value had increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1000 crore. (100,000 times profit in 5 years).

➤ In 2015, Bhandari's company was blacklisted by Modi government.

➤ In 2016, all his offices were raided and sensitive documents belonging to various defense deals were recovered from him.

➤ Documents pertaining to technicalities and secret aspects of Rafale deal, manufacturing and defense procurement was recovered from Bhandari's offices in the raid.

➤ The COURT found him guilty under the official secrets act for possessing documents related to national security in 2018 and he was investigated by the IT, CBI, ED and other central agencies. The metropolitan court declared him a "proclaimed offender"

During the interrogation with CBI, Sanjay Bhandari has accepted the transactions he made with Robert Vadra. It is no secret that the Congress is crying foul and is throwing mud on PM Modi with respect to the Rafale deal because commission worth thousands of crores to Bhandari/Vadra could not be made and the deal went through smoothly.

This is the reason why Congress has raked up the issue to derail the Rafale deal. Who are the beneficiaries ??

Congress is getting benefits for this from various stakeholders-
1. Companies which are competitors of Dassault, who want the deal to derail so that other companies that compete with Dassault can have the last laugh.

2. Pakistan and China, who do not want induction of Rafale jets in the IAF for various reasons.

3. Middlemen and agents like Bhandari and Vadra who have lost potential crores of rupees.

4. Countries and organisations that have their vested interests in derailing the induction of Rafale deal.

The truth is much more than what meets the eyes!!
